Adbert Alzolay Makes Cubs Rotation
4 years agoChicago Cubs manager David Ross has announced that right-hander Adbert Alzolay will be the clubs fifth starter when the 2021 season opens on Thursday. It wasn't too long ago that Alzolay, 26, was one of the top pitching prospects in the game and he has now beat out starting pitcher Alec Mills for a rotation spot. The young hurler has made 10 appearances in the big the leagues over the last two seasons with six starts in that span. Alzolay has struggled this spring with a 0-3 record to go along with a 10.57 ERA and eight strikeouts in 7 2/3 innings, but pitched well against the Dodgers in his most recent start that saw him go 3 2/3 innings and allowing two runs on one hit with five strikeouts and walking one. Alzolay has enough potential to be worthy of a late round pick in upcoming drafts and those in shallow leagues should keep an eye on him.
