Alex Claudio Picks Up First Save of 2018
7 years agoTexas Rangers reliever Alex Claudio induced a 10th-inning ground-ball out to seal his first save of 2018. The righty was only asked to handle one batter, Josh Reddick, and came on with men on first and second. Claudio looked sharp and Reddick meekly tapped the ball up the line to a waiting Ronald Guzman, sealing the comeback win for the Rangers. Unfortunately for Claudio owners, this doesn't appear to be indicative of anything other than that he is the clear No. 2 option for the ninth inning behind closer Keone Kela, who pitched a scoreless ninth to keep the game tied. Claudio is worth owning in holds leagues and as a speculative option for saves in the future, but Kela has looked quite good over the first couple of weeks.
