3 years agoNew York Yankees relief pitcher Aroldis Chapman (Achilles) completed his first bullpen session on Saturday and the team has reported that he is pain-free. He is set to pitch another bullpen session at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday. Chapman was placed on the 15-day injured list on May 23 due to left Achilles tendinitis. The 34-year-old has stated that he is hopeful he can return without requiring a rehab assignment. However, Yankees manager Aaron Boone wouldn't commit to that plan, saying it was still too early to tell. Fellow Yankees reliever Clay Holmes has seamlessly transitioned into the team's closing role with Chapman out. He's 5-for-5 on saves since Chapman landed on the injured list and 9-for-9 on saves overall across the year. Chapman is also 9-for-9 on save chances this year, but his 3.86 ERA and 1.64 WHIP are far inferior to Holmes' 0.31 ERA and 0.66 WHIP.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
