4 years agoCatcher Austin Hedges was traded by the San Diego Padres to the Cleveland Indians on Monday as part of the massive nine-player deal that sent starting pitcher Mike Clevinger to San Diego. San Diego recently acquired catchers Jason Castro and Aaron Nola from the Angels and Mariners, respectively. This left Hedges essentially without a role in San Diego. With the move to Cleveland, Hedges will still need to battle Roberto Perez and Sandy Leon for playing time. The 28-year-old Hedges has struggled immensely in the majors, exemplified by a career slash line of .199/.257/.359. On the season, Hedges is batting just .158 with three homers and six RBI. Despite the poor performance with the bat, Perez and Leon have also done little in 2020. As such, Hedges could see some regular playing time in Cleveland, though he remains off of fantasy radars for now.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
