5 years agoHouston Rockets point/shooting guard Austin Rivers will miss Saturday’s game versus the Los Angeles Lakers due to a right thumb sprain, marking his third absence of the season and first since Dec. 11. Rivers has scuffled mightily from long range over his last five outings, shooting a combined 1-for-13 from deep in that stretch. His absence is likely to force Russell Westbrook and James Harden to handle the ball even more than usual, with Rivers’ next chance at returning to action coming Monday against Oklahoma City.--Jesse Borek
