Bartolo Colon Loses No-No Bid in Eighth Inning
7 years agoTexas Rangers starting pitcher Bartolo Colon threw an absolute gem against the Houston Astros, going 7 2/3 innings with a hit, a walk and a run scored before ceding the ball to reliever Alex Claudio. Colon carried a perfect game into the eighth before giving up a leadoff walk to shortstop Carlos Correa, and lost the no-hitter one batter later with a Josh Reddick double. The shutout came to an end as Yuli Gurriel hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 1-1. The 44-year-old needed just 96 pitches to get through the nearly eight innings of work, and the ageless wonder continues to surprise doubters in 2018. Rotoballer has been in on Colon from the start of the season, and with a sparkling 1.45 ERA on the season, there's almost no chance that the Rangers take him out of the rotation anytime soon.
