6 years agoTampa Bay Rays first baseman Brad Miller has been designated for assignment Thursday. This move comes after the Rays announced they would be calling up their No. 4 prospect Jake Bauers on Wednesday. This news is a little odd, because Miller has not been that bad in 2018. In 174 plate appearances this season, Miller has a .256 batting average and five home runs. However, Miller has been striking out a career-high 29.3 percent of the time and has fallen below C.J. Cron on the Rays depth chart. Miller may now be traded to another ball club, but he is unlikely to offer much fantasy value going forward in 2018.--Ben Rolfe
