5 years agoThe Milwaukee Brewers signed right-handed pitcher Shelby Miller to a minor league contract with an invite to join the major league club for spring training. Miller is a former first-round pick in 2009 and was voted into the All-Star game in 2015. He is 38-56 with a 4.11 ERA in 150 games in his eight-year MLB career with the D-backs, Cardinals, Rangers and Braves. He posted an 8.59 ERA in 44 innings over 19 appearances (eight starts) for Texas in 2019. The Brewers have some holes to fill at the back end of their rotation. Brandon Woodruff and Adrian Houser are the Brewers only primary starters from 2019 remaining on the roster. The Crew also signed left-hander Brett Anderson and added another lefty via trade, acquiring Eric Lauer from the Padres this offseason. Miller's signing is seemingly a no-risk flier for the team, who will get a good a look at him this spring. Since he's not a lock to be in the rotation to begin the year, he's unlikely to be an option in mixed league drafts.--James Stokke
