Bryce Harper Looking To Break Slump
6 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies outfielder Bryce Harper has, thus far, not lived up to the lofty expectations placed on him coming into this season. Harper is hitting .242/.355/.448 on the year, adding 12 home runs, 50 RBI, 41 runs scored, and four steals. He holds a 28.7% strikeout rate (8th highest among qualified hitters) and a subpar .339 wOBA (74th among qualified hitters). Harper is hitting .160/.344/.280 in his last seven games and has gone deep just once in his last 17 contests. There are encouraging signs, however, with his high 14.4% walk rate, 45.7% hard-hit rate, 93 MPH average exit velocity, and high RBI total. Additionally, Harper is hitting leadoff for the third straight game and will face Miami Marlins starter Elieser Hernandez (3.95 ERA) on Saturday afternoon. Keep starting him in all formats and look for him to break out of this mini-slump sooner rather than later.
