Casey Mize Going For Follow-Up Tests
3 years agoThe Detroit Tigers are waiting for more follow-up tests on starting pitcher Casey Mize (elbow). "So far the doctors are telling us that we've avoided any sort of catastrophic occurrence which is good. So far, so good," manager A.J. Hinch said. Initial testing on Mize revealed a sprained medial collateral ligament in his right elbow, and he was placed on the injured list last Friday. It's still unclear when the 24-year-old will be able to return to Detroit's rotation, but the good news is it doesn't appear to be a season-ending injury. In his first two starts of the season, Mize had allowed six earned runs on 13 hits while walking two and striking out four in 10 innings. Michael Pineda has taken Mize's spot in the rotation.
