Casey Mize Throws No-Hitter in Double-A Debut
6 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitching prospect Casey Mize made his debut with Double-A Erie on Monday. To say he made a good first impression would be an understatement. The young hurler, who was taken No. 1 overall by the Tigers in last year's draft, fired a no-hitter, with the only base runners being a hit batsman and a walk. Mize needed just 98 pitches to complete the no-no. Prior to his promotion to Erie, Mize had gone 2-0 with a 0.35 ERA through four starts with Lakeland, striking out 25 in 26 innings of work. He's worth owning in dynasty formats and could even see some innings at the big-league level before the year ends.
