Chauncey Billups Gets Five-Year Deal From Portland
3 years agoThe Portland Trail Blazers have officially ended their hunt for a new head coach. Five-time All-Star guard Chauncey Billups will become the coach in Portland with a five year deal. Billups has no coaching experience at any level and will replace Terry Stotts, who was fired after nine seasons as Portland's head coach. Superstar point guard Damian Lillard does not appear happy with the Blazers pick for their new head coach. He wanted Jason Kidd to take over for Stotts, but Kidd took the Dallas Mavericks head coaching job instead. It's worth noting that Billups was an assistant coach under Ty Lue in Los Angeles. However, he'll be asked to lead a Blazers roster that is ready for a deep playoff run with little experience. It'll be interesting to see if Lillard is still in a Blazers uniform by the beginning of the season.
