Chris Archer Hits Disabled List Tuesday
6 years agoTampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Chris Archer (abdomen) was placed on the 10-day disabled list Tuesday. The move is retroactive to Sunday, which can indicate that the team expects Archer to miss minimal time. Archer saw a specialist in Philadelphia but is heading to Washington to join up with the team. Archer is having a weird year in 2018. In 76 1/3 innings, he has a 4.24 ERA and just 76 strikeouts with 26 walks. The walks and ERA are not all that strange, but the strikeouts are a concern. Over the last three years, Archer has consistently struck out over 10 batters per nine innings pitched. This year he is below a strikeout per inning. At the moment, Archer is still a must-start pitcher, but if he does not improve his numbers soon, he could find himself tumbling down the rankings.
