5 years agoPittsburgh Pirates pitcher Chris Archer (hip) was pulled after four innings in his last start on Friday with left hip discomfort. Pirates general manager Neal Huntington stated that the team wants doctors to take a look at him on Monday and determine whether he's able to take the mound on Wednesday at home against the Cubs. Huntington also discussed the prospects of a long rest for Archer if he were to miss this start, then have the All-Star break to rest as well. For any Archer owners in shallow leagues who are in need of some production prior to the break, dropping him for someone with two starts or one favorable matchup before the break is a viable option, especially if it becomes official that Archer isn't starting Wednesday and is out through the break. It's been a disappointing season for Archer who has a 5.50 ERA and 1.47 WHIP on the year. In 14+ team leagues and NL-only leagues, owners would be smart to keep holding him as he's still shown a knack for generating strikeouts and an ability to go deep into games.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
