6 years agoToronto Blue Jays pitcher Chris Rowley has been claimed off waivers by the Texas Rangers. The Rangers immediately optioned Rowley to Triple-A where the assumption is he will join the rotation. At just 27, the Rangers could see Rowley as a long term pitcher or they may be adding him to provide cover if they move either Cole Hamels or Mike Minor before the end of the month. Rowley has not made any starts for the Blue Jays this season but he has made 17 starts at Triple-A. In those starts, he has a .330 batting average but just 63 strikeouts in 101 innings pitched. The lack of strikeouts at Triple-A means that Rowley does not have any immediate fantasy value even if he does get called up to the majors.--Ben Rolfe
