6 years agoNew Orleans Pelicans power forward Christian Wood had by far the best statistical night of his NBA career during Tuesday’s loss to the Atlanta Hawks, collecting career highs with 23 points, nine rebounds and six blocks and also adding three steals and leaving more points on the table while shooting 8-for-14 from the free-throw stripe. Wood was waived by Milwaukee just over a week ago and was playing in just his second game with New Orleans on Tuesday. Owners will want to give him at least Thursday’s game against the Sacramento Kings to prove that this isn’t a flash in the pan, but Anthony Davis’ absence Tuesday certainly boosted his workload.--Jesse Borek
