Clint Capela Won't Return Versus Cleveland
3 years agoAtlanta Hawks center Clint Capela (knee) won't return to the pivotal play-in contest versus the Cleveland Cavaliers. Capela was coming into this matchup fresh off a 17-rebound and 15-point showing against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday, a game where he also contributed three blocks and two steals. He was well on his way to another double-double. However, the 27-year-old sustained a hyperextended right knee in the second quarter after inadvertently pulling Evan Mobley down on him. He was assisted back to the locker room by the training staff, so if the Hawks advance beyond Friday's do-or-die battle, the club may be forced to navigate its way through the postseason without Capela and John Collins (finger, foot) for the foreseeable future. Nonetheless, an update on Capela's status should come over the next day or so. In the meantime, Onyeka Okongwu will likely get as many minutes in the middle as he can handle.
