3 years agoPortland Trail Blazers center Cody Zeller's (nose) tenure with his new team got off to an inauspicious start, as he sustained a broken nose during a preseason loss to the Warriors. Brought aboard to backup Jusuf Nurkic at the five, Zeller will now undergo surgery Friday to repair the issue, putting him on the shelf for the time being. Zeller has previously broken his nose before, although that gives little insight into how quickly he could return in this instance. The Blazers figure to deploy Larry Nance Jr. or Patrick Patterson as Nurkic's backup in the interim. Zeller was set to be on the fence of being drafted even in deeper season-long formats, but he can firmly land on the waiver wire for now while his outlook is in question.--Jesse Borek
