2 years agoMilwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Corbin Burnes got off to a rough start to the month of June, but he's been settling in lately. He's now recorded three straight quality starts, earning a win in all three outings to improve his record to 6-4 on the year. Despite an up-and-down year so far, Burnes' surface stats are looking very similar to where they were during his 2021 NL Cy Young-winning season. He currently has a 2.41 ERA and a 0.92 WHIP -- almost identical to last year's 2.43 ERA and 0.94 WHIP. His underlying stats, however, aren't as encouraging this year as they were last year. He has a 2.80 xERA this year (up from 2.00 last year) and he's allowing an average exit velocity of 87.9 mph (up from 85.5 mph last year). Based on his peripherals, it's reasonable to think some negative regression is coming Burnes' way soon, but he can still most certainly be counted upon as a clear ace for fantasy purposes.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
