4 years agoChicago Cubs closer Craig Kimbrel worked a perfect inning to pick up his first save of the season on Sunday versus the Pittsburgh Pirates. Kimbrel struck out two of the three batters he faced and his velocity and control looked stellar. The closer has now pitched back-to-back perfect innings and has struck out five of the six hitters he has faced. Kimbrel was a risky option entering the season, after a rough 2020 season and managers who drafted him look to have gotten a steal at this rate. Kimbrel has proven to be one of the best closers in the past and managers should be happy with what they've seen from him so far. Kimbrel will likely be unavailable on Monday against the Milwaukee Brewers after appearing in two straight games and manager David Ross would likely mix and match with names such Jason Adam and Rex Brothers getting an opportunity if a save should arise.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller
