D.J. Augustin Takes Advantage of New Role
7 years agoOrlando Magic guard D.J. Augustin scored 18 points in a win over Atlanta on Thursday. Elfrid Payton was traded earlier Thursday, and Augustin took over as the starter at point guard. He played over 35 minutes and when the game was on the line, he scored seven of his 18 points in the last 3:13 of the game. Both teams played flat, shooting sub-40 percent in the first half, yet Augustin was still able to pass out nine assists. He's going to get a lot of run with Payton in Phoenix and should be owned in all leagues. Orlando has nothing to play for, so expect Augustin to play loose and put up some numbers down the stretch. The Magic play the Bucks on Saturday, and Augustin should play a bunch of minutes once again.
