Dakota Hudson Allows One Run Over Seven Innings
6 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals pitcher Dakota Hudson turned in his eighth straight quality start on Saturday against the Angels. He pitched seven innings and allowed five hits, one walk and one earned run while striking out six. The only run came on a solo shot from Albert Pujols. Hudson is now 6-3 on the year with a 3.36 ERA and 1.47 WHIP. While the consistency from Hudson has been exceptional this year, he's also been walking a bit of a tightrope. Hudson's hard-hit rate (43.8%) and strikeout rate (15.5%) are both amongst the bottom 10% of the league. In order to have continued success this year, Hudson's going to need to either induce weaker contact or earn more strikeouts, or both. For now, however, he looks like a good sell-high candidate in the right deal.
