D'Angelo Russell Compiles Game-High 22 Points In Defeat
4 years agoMinnesota Timberwolves point/shooting guard D'Angelo Russell is going to have ample opportunity to score at will without Karl-Anthony Towns (wrist) for the foreseeable future, with Tuesday's game-high 22-point performance beginning that ascension. Russell has served as the unquestioned No. 1 scoring option before (Brooklyn, Golden State), and his 9-for-19 shooting effort against the Clippers, including going 4-for-11 from deep, indicated that's likely to be the case moving forward. He added four assists, three rebounds, and two steals to his stat line, but Minnesota was rocked (-26) during his time on the floor. His next matchup comes Friday against Washington, who has played at a breakneck pace to kick off the year, which should benefit Russell's upside as a scorer.
