4 years agoPhoenix Suns center Deandre Ayton used the familiarity of playing the Kings for a second straight night to his advantage Sunday, notching his first double-double of the season with 11 points and 15 rebounds. Ayton's minutes were once again held in check (29), but he also added four assists and his first made three of the year to help balance out his stat line. While the big man essentially has carte blanche to clean up the defensive glass, his role in the offense may not be as large as initially expected. Through three games, Ayton has averaged just 11 PPG, and next up is a showdown with the defensive-minded Steven Adams of the Pelicans on Tuesday. There's little reason to press the panic button on Ayton as the Suns get their offense into swing, but monitoring his year three progress will give insight to where his true ceiling lies.--Jesse Borek
