DeMar DeRozan Channels His Inner Point Guard
6 years agoSan Antonio Spurs shooting guard DeMar DeRozan contributed five points, nine assists and two rebounds over 26 minutes in Tuesday's victory over the Suns. The 6-foot-7 wing made two of six shots from the field and one of two from the charity stripe. The NBA's 12th leading scorer attempted his fewest shots of the season in this contest as he decided to set others up rather than "get his own" as the 29-year-old doled eight assists in the first half. The 10th-year pro, who is averaging a career-high 6.2 dimes a game, has dished out at least six assists in five of six games in December, including eight or more in each of his last three contests. The game marked the first time he failed to score in double figures and just the second time he has attempted less than 10 shots. DeRozan, who is averaging 25.2 points over the last six games, will face a Clippers' squad on Thursday who he put up 34 points on 30 shots in the teams first meeting this season.
