5 years agoNew Orleans Pelicans power forward/center Derrick Favors will miss the rest of Saturday’s contest against the Miami Heat due to a back ailment. Prior to his departure, Favors logged eight minutes in the first half and finished with two points, four rebounds and two assists. With Jahlil Okafor having been ruled out prior to tip-off, New Orleans figures to be extremely thin in the frontcourt for the remainder of the game, likely to rely upon rookie Jaxson Hayes for additional minutes. Favors’ next chance to return to action comes Sunday against Golden State, although his likelihood of making a rapid recovery seems unlikely.--Jesse Borek
