4 years agoTampa Bay Rays pitcher Diego Castillo is set to see an increase in high-leverage opportunities with the injury to Nick Anderson (elbow). The right-hander will now be one of the favorites to acquire saves on a regular basis, although Pete Fairbanks, Ryan Thompson, and Chaz Roe could also see time in the later innings. Castillo allowed just one unearned run in six innings this spring but he also struck out only three batters, which bears watching. His fastball velocity was down about 2 mph in 2020 compared to previous seasons. His strikeout rate has also dropped each of the past two seasons from a high of 29.3% to a low of 25.8% in 2021.--Marc Hulet - RotoBaller
