Donovan Mitchell Continues Disturbing Early Season Trend
5 years agoUtah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell led his team with 24 points and a 10-for-10 performance from the free-throw line on Friday night. Those are both good things because he should be, and is, the primary focus for the Jazz offensively. His performance against the Los Angeles Lakers will not draw much criticism from fantasy owners, but a closer look at the box score says something else. In the Jazz's first game, Mitchell only attempted three shots from behind the arc and, against the Lakers on Friday, he continued that trend by only taking three shots from downtown. This is very different from his first two NBA seasons, where he attempted seven and 6.7 three-pointers per game. This is something to keep an eye on as Mike Conley joined the Jazz in the offseason and is the first offensively-competent guard that Mitchell has played with so far in his NBA career. Mitchell will hopefully get back to his three-point-shooting ways on Sunday when he faces the Sacramento Kings at home.
