6 years agoNew Orleans Pelicans point guard Elfrid Payton got close to a double-double in Wednesday's 140-128 loss to Miami, finishing with 17 points on 7-for-11 shooting and dishing out eight assists in 27 minutes on the floor. We haven't seen much of Payton offensively during the preseason, but he turned it on here with Anthony Davis (rest) and Jrue Holiday (rest) both missing. Payton has a lot to prove in 2018-19 after being past around for pretty much nothing over the last 12 months. He's still projected to come off the bench at the start of the year, but that doesn't mean that he won't log at least 30 minutes per night.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
