7 years agoOrlando Magic point guard Elfrid Payton was terrific in a losing effort, scoring 21 points with seven boards and seven dimes. He would add three steals and a three-pointer, as he's red-hot coming in Tuesday. Payton has been on a tear, averaging 20.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 2.0 steals on 57 percent shooting over the past week. If you throw away the dud on Jan. 16, Payton has scored 21, 22, 19 and 27 points over his previous five games. Obviously, the red-hot shooting is not sustainable, but it's a good indication of his upside. He's still hovering just around late-round value on the year, but he looks like he's ready to roll in the second half of the season as the Magic continue to tank for lottery balls.--Dicky Fung
