6 years agoNew Orleans Pelicans point guard Elfrid Payton will not be able to suit up for Friday’s match-up versus the Minnesota Timberwolves due to a right ankle sprain that will keep him out for the sixth straight contest. Payton has scuffled through an injury-plagued 2018-19, appearing in just 19 games while averaging 9.8 points and 5.8 assists per game. The playing time -- and possibility for production -- should be there alongside Jrue Holiday when Payton can get healthy, with his next opportunity to lace up coming Saturday against the Memphis Grizzlies.--Jesse Borek
