5 years agoNew York Knicks point guard Elfrid Payton will continue his absence during Sunday’s contest versus the Cleveland Cavaliers due to a strained right hamstring. The team has opted to utilize Frank Ntilikina in the starting point guard slot without Payton in the mix, even as RJ Barrett has seen the lion’s share of usage in the New York backcourt. The Knicks have resisted ruling Payton out for an extended period of time, even as his early injury announcement does not bode well for a speedy return. His next chance to suit up will come Tuesday versus Chicago.--Jesse Borek
