6 years agoFrancesco Molinari produced a masterful display in his final round to win his first major championship and become champion golfer of the year. Molinari began the final round at Carnoustie three strokes off the lead, but his steady play was enough to chase down the leaders and eventually overtake them. Molinari did not bogey once on Sunday and claimed victory by two strokes. It is Molinari’s third win in his last six events. The Italian is now the sixth-ranked player in the world.--Gianni
