5 years agoSan Diego Padres catcher Francisco Mejia (oblique) could return soon, per manager Andy Green. He’ll take batting practice in the coming days, play some instructional ball then rejoin the club if all goes well. Mejia's been out since August 28 with a strained right oblique. The 23-year-old is making his case as the Friars long-term backstop, slashing a strong .309/.361/.527 with six homers since the All-Star break. Coupled with incumbent Austin Hedges’ abysmal offensive track record, Mejia should get his shot. If Mejia returns in 2019, he makes for a strong stretch-run option and remains a key asset in dynasty.--Andrew Le - RotoBaller
