6 years agoSan Diego Padres catcher Francisco Mejia went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in his return to the majors Tuesday against the Milwaukee Brewers. Called up with starter and battery mate Logan Allen to catch his major league debut, Mejia launched a key big fly in the sixth for critical insurance in the victory. Mejia has been injured and rehabbing in Triple-A since May 10 and was hitting just .167 in 62 plate appearances for the Padres this year. However, he was roasting during his extended rehab, posting a 1.157 OPS. With backstops Austin Hedges struggling and Austin Allen recently optioned, Mejia should have opportunities to earn a larger share of catching duties. A former top prospect, he’s an interesting low-cost DFS or deep league catching option.--Andrew Le - RotoBaller
