6 years agoSan Diego Padres catcher Francisco Mejia is not in the starting lineup Wednesday against the New York Mets. Mejia has been stellar since returning from the minors in June, and even more so since the break. In eight games since the break, Mejia is slugging .827 and has two home runs, four runs and five RBI, and he may slowly be gaining more playing time over fellow backstop Austin Hedges. Mejia makes for an interesting option the rest of the way and could provide solid value if he keeps this up. Those in deep mixed and NL-only leagues may want to keep an eye on him. Hedges will be behind the plate Wednesday and will bat eighth against righty Noah Syndergaard. Hedges is excellent on the defensive side of the ball, but his offense is a different story, so he can be left on the wire.--Joseph Magazzinich
