Fred VanVleet Will Miss Tuesday’s Contest
3 years agoToronto Raptors point guard Fred VanVleet (knee) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game vs. Charlotte due to a sore right knee. VanVleet has been logging enormous minutes totals all season, as he enters play Tuesday at a league-high 38.2 minutes per outing. Over his last eight games, that number has jumped to 41.2, a stretch in which he has attempted 13.3 three-point attempts per outing, leading to him shooting just 34 percent overall. Without VanVleet in the mix, Gary Trent Jr. will serve as the team's de facto starting point guard, although Scottie Barnes and Pascal Siakam stand to have elevated assists upside as well. The team may just be exercising caution with VanVleet on the first night of a back-to-back with Wednesday against the Bulls serving as his next chance to suit up.
