3 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Genesis Cabrera closed out the team's 5-4 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday to earn his first save of the year. He pitched the final two innings of the game, allowing two walks, no hits and no runs while striking out one. Giovanny Gallegos and Ryan Helsley have been operating as the team's co-closers lately. They pitched two innings each on Tuesday, so the team likely wanted to hold them out of action for Wednesday's game. Cabrera has had a nice season, pitching to a 2.27 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP while racking up 10 holds. However, he'd need both Gallegos and Helsley to struggle immensely or get injured in order for him to receive more save opportunities going forward.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
