2 years agoToronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer went 0-for-4 in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Oakland Athletics. It was his second consecutive hitless outing after he went 0-for-4 in Monday's series opener. The 32-year-old is off to a sluggish start to the month of July. Over five games, he's gone just 2-for-18 at the plate. The former Astro owns an underwhelming .250/.333/.474 slash line on the year to go along with 15 home runs, eight stolen bases, 38 RBI and 47 runs. His season's been plagued by a 43.3% ground ball rate (up from 32.6% last year) as well as a 7.9% barrel rate (down from 15.4% last year). Fantasy managers are warranted to be a bit worried about Springer, but we'd expect the veteran to come around soon given his long track record of success. His average exit velocity this year (89 mph) is basically right where it was last year (89.4 mph) and his 40.5% hard-hit rate is right there with his career mark (41%).--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
