2 years agoUpdating a previous report, Colorado Rockies starting pitcher German Marquez (thumb) was removed from his start against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday due to a cut on his right thumb. The right-hander initially cut his thumb during a bullpen session a few days before Wednesday's start. Marquez stated after Wednesday's game that he was having trouble gripping his fastball. Dodgers hitters certainly exploited the 27-year-old's ailment. His final line was 3 1/3 innings, five hits, three walks, five earned runs and two strikeouts. He was tagged with the loss in the game and is now 4-6 on the year with a 5.89 ERA and a 1.54 WHIP.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
