6 years agoHouston Astros starting pitcher Gerrit Cole turned in a solid outing against the Oakland Athletics on Sunday, going six innings and allowing two earned runs on four hits and two walks while striking out four. It was the second straight quality start for Cole, who now has nine quality starts in 13 outings this season. Cole's 5-5 record and 3.94 ERA this year aren't exactly what owners were hoping for from him, as he's coming off a year where he went 15-5 with a 2.88 ERA. However, there's a good amount of hope that Cole's numbers will normalize soon, as he has an abnormal HR/FB rate of 21.9 percent this year compared to 10 percent last year, and his xFIP of 2.51 this year is even lower than his 3.04 xFIP from 2018. He's an ace in every definition of the word and if his owner is showing any doubt that he's a top-10 pitcher this season, go out and grab him at a discount.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
