Gerrit Cole Strikes Out 12 Rays On Monday
3 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Gerrit Cole had a fantastic outing against the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday. He pitched 7 1/3 innings and allowed one hit, three walks and one earned run while striking out a season-high 12 batters. The right-hander took a no-hitter into the eighth inning of the game, but an Isaac Paredes single broke up the no-no in the inning. Cole wound up with a no decision in the game, so his record remains at 6-1. He'll take a 3.14 ERA and a 1.02 WHIP into his next start, which will be on Saturday against his former team, the Houston Astros.
