4 years agoNew York Yankees shortstop Gleyber Torres cranked his first home run of the season in Sunday's win over Washington. Torres went hitless in his first two at-bats of the day before sending a Joe Ross sinker 411 feet into the left-field seats at an exit velocity of 109 MPH for his first long ball of the season. The home run was much-needed for Torres, who owns a career-low .308 slugging percentage. Torres has actually maintained the plate discipline gains he made during the shortened 2020 season, so he could go on a hot streak if he finds his power stroke.--Tim Capurso
