Gleyber Torres Exits Early Thursday With Apparent Leg Injury
4 years agoNew York Yankees shortstop Gleyber Torres left Thursday’s contest against Tampa Bay due to what appeared to be a leg injury as he ran down the first-base line. Thiago Estrada replaced Torres in the lineup, with Tyler Wade shifting over to short; should the absence for Torres force him to miss multiple games, Wade is the likeliest candidate to fill-in. There were lofty fantasy expectations for Torres entering 2020, but he has yet to fulfill them through his first 24 games, slashing .237/.348/.303 with just one home run. His injury is the latest in a list of maladies for the Yankees’ offense (Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, DJ LeMahieu), with Torres’ next chance to return to the lineup coming Friday against the Mets and right-hander Rick Porcello.
