Gleyber Torres Likely To Need More Time In Minors
7 years agoNew York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said it is "more likely" that shortstop prospect Gleyber Torres will need extra time in the minors in 2018, and service time will not be in play when considering him for the opening day roster. There is a chance that Torres makes the opening day roster as the starting second baseman, but he'll really need to impress in spring training for that to happen. Between Double-A and Triple-A last year, Torres hit .287 with seven home runs, 34 RBI, seven steals and 31 runs scored in 55 games. He should be stashed in keeper/dynasty leagues and could become an option in deep mixed and AL-only leagues if he's in the bigs in 2018.
