4 years agoCharlotte Hornets small forward Gordon Hayward produced a huge performance in Wednesday's matchup against Atlanta, outscoring the Hawks in the opening quarter 12-11 and finishing with a career-high 44 points. He shot 15-for-25 from the field and 4-for-9 from downtown, while going 10-for-12 at the charity stripe. Hayward, whose previous best was 39 points, added seven rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block. His play has been very up and down lately so this came out of nowhere, but when you're hot you're hot. Hayward will get a rematch with the Hawks on Saturday, but before that Charlotte will face the Pelicans, who boast a top-five defense, so it could be a completely different story for the 30-year-old forward in the next matchup.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
