5 years agoMinnesota Timberwolves center Gorgui Dieng feasted upon a decimated Cleveland Cavaliers frontcourt during Sunday’s win, collecting a season-high 22 points to go along with 13 rebounds, six assists and four blocks. Dieng, who remained in the starting five with Karl-Anthony Towns again ruled out, shot 8-for-10 from the field overall, including 4-for-5 from long range; his scoring total marks his highest regular-season output since March 11, 2016. It wasn’t just points that saw new season highs set as both his assists and blocks total marked his highest of the year, giving him an all-around elite effort as the team continues to hand him a sizable workload. Owners will want to monitor Towns’ status ahead of Tuesday’s game against the Grizzlies, but should he remain absent, Dieng will once again be in prime position to succeed.--Jesse Borek
