Hassan Whiteside Traded To Portland
5 years agoThe Trail Blazers acquired center Hassan Whiteside from Miami on Monday. The 30-year-old, who signed a four-year, $98 million deal with the team in 2016, averaged 12.3 points and 11.3 rebounds to go along with 1.9 blocks per contest last season despite playing just over 23.3 minutes per game. With this move, the Heat will clear much needed cap space for guard Jimmy Butler, who will head south in addition to the Blazers having a formidable presence in the middle with questions surrounding the health of center Jusuf Nurkic, who went down at the end of the season with a leg injury. Even with some years under his belt, Whiteside still has plenty of gas left in the tank and would make a welcome addition to fantasy rosters this upcoming year, especially if Nurkic misses an extended amount of time.
