Hawks Move Back To Draft Trae Young At Fifth Overall
7 years agoThe Atlanta Hawks have traded the third overall pick with the Dallas Mavericks for the fifth overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft and a 2019 protected first-round pick. With the fifth pick, Atlanta has selected breakout Oklahoma point guard Trae Young. With speculation of current point guard Dennis Schroder on his way out of Atlanta, the Hawks went and selected Young in order to fill the potential void at point guard. Young led the NCAA in points and assists per game over the 2017-2018 season. Young's most notable NBA comparison has been Stephen Curry due to his immense shooting range and smaller frame. Young will have to adapt to bigger stars in his rookie season, but he could be a valuable three-point option, especially if Schroder leaves.
