4 years agoTo the surprise of no one, the Toronto Blue Jays tabbed pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu to be the club's starter on opening day. The veteran hurler is in his second season with the Blue Jays after signing a four-year, $80M contract prior to the 2020 season. Ryu made his final spring appearance on Friday and struggled with his command. He allowed eight hits — including a home run — and three runs in four innings of work. Last season in the majors, Ryu posted a 2.69 ERA with a K-BB of 72-17 in 67 innings. He should be followed in the rotation by Robbie Ray, Steven Matz, Tanner Roark, and Ross Stripling.
